hate that i can't explain to people that sometimes things give me a mental block and i can't fix them on my own. bc it'll make me sound crazy. there is something on the table that is preventing me from using it. i can't move it on my own. physically i could, but mentally, my brain won't let me. i don't know why. just approaching the table makes me panic. yes i know it doesn't make sense. no i don't know how to change that. can't you just move it? why not? why do i need to give a logical reason for my brain's illogical behavior to get this very simply help from you? why do i need a reason at all?

Bumi being pressured to choose an heir to the kingdom but all of the candidates he's presented with low-key suck in his opinion so when he hears of an underground fighting ring and its champion (Toph) he decides to go undercover and join in the fun!

As he and Toph fight, he gets an idea! This tiny sassy child is an amazing fighter and an inventive and flexible opponent- perfect material to shape an heir from! And she's entertaining as hell! Even just imagining Toph as the next king sends him into gales of laughter and almost costs him the match

So, he finds her after the match and offers to adopt her. She turns him down and flicks a booger at him, but she's willing to spar from time to time so long as he isn't too annoying

However! Since he's in the area, he may as well pay visits to various prominent families... Such as the beifongs. They're boring, but messing with them is pretty funny so maybe a single dinner will be tolerable? But who does he sense at the beifongs residence but his new heir! (she'll come around to it)

Bumi asks after the beifongs child, and after hearing she is too fragile to meet new people (she helped destroyed an arena yesterday and definitely Bumi is feeling the fight), pulls rank and insists on her being presented to him. It'll be funny

Toph, being dragged out of a nice dirt nap and prettied up to meet some stupid king for some reason: 💢

Toph, hearing Bumi say he's selected her as his heir an as such, he will be taking her back to his city to instruct her: 💢💢🔪 (he's harder to avoid than her parents)

Tophs parents technically can say no, but he is the king and their daughter becoming his heir would do a lot for their family standing... And honestly bumis city is very well run and safe, so despite their worry for their daughter they send her with Bumi

In the first week, she's broken his mail delivery system at least twice every day, eaten a great deal of genomite (and used it in a prank or two), attempted to run away five times (succeeded none), and started another underground fight club. She is having the time of her life, and Bumis council has a permanent headache

Anyway, Toph raised by Bumi. King Toph. Terrifying and perfect
